Now that I’m back in the land of the snow and ice, it’s hard to believe that just a week ago I was strolling along Marina Beach in Chennai, one of the longest beaches in the world. I also made a stop at San Thome Basilica, which is built over the tomb of disciple St. Thomas. St. Thomas spent 20 years in India, from 52 to 72 AD.
I had the pleasure of spending five relaxing days in Sri Lanka, recovering from the Rickshaw Challenge and securing another 30-day visa for India. In Galle, I stayed in a fascinating 260-year old home, Atapattu Walawwa, which was built in complete harmony with the natural environment and incorporates Buddhist principles in its design.
I spent a fun-filled, friend-filled two weeks in Malaysia, city hopping and island hopping from Georgetown, Penang to Kuala Lumpur to Kota Kinabalu, Borneo.
Following my Cambodia Adventure tour, which ended in Ho Chi Minh City, I stayed in Vietnam for two weeks, traveling north to Hanoi through Hue and Hoi An, with a stop in Halong Bay.
I have always been skeptical of group tours; however, at the 11th hour I decided to join Intrepid Travel‘s Cambodia Adventure tour, which led me for from Bangkok to Ho Chi Minh City, making five stops in Cambodia along the way. It was a fantastic 12 days, and I can’t imagine having done it any other way. Here highlights from the tour, as seen on Instagram.
